Catamaran Design Team

Hugo Le Breton, an experienced monohull and catamaran racer and cruiser, sought to integrate very best of modern racing multihull savoir-faire into genuinely beautiful, high quality cruising yachts. In order to bring his vision to reality, Hugo brought together a phenomenally experienced design team. The first product of his vision was the stunningSIG45. Following the success of this cruiser racer, the Le Breton Yachts team has recently developed two performance cruising yachts, the SIG60 and SIG80. These groundbreaking new yachts feature the same pedigree and clearly demonstrate the core design drivers of the marque: Speed, Innovation and Grace.

Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost

Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost (VPLP) is the world’s number one multihull design firm, responsible for yachts ranging from ORMA60 trimarans to luxury custom catamarans. Their 135ft trimaran, Banque Populaire, is holder of the transatlantic record (just over three days at an average of 33 knots), the 24 hour speed record (908nm, an average speed of nearly 38knots!) and the round the world record (45 days). They also designed the incredible BMW Oracle trimaran, which won the 33rd America’s Cup. In the SIG range, the architects have combined their experience in the very latest in racing multihull design and technology with modern styling and comforts.

Bjorn Johansson

Bjorn Johansson created yachts ranging from 12 metre production boats to superyachts up to 80metres (e.g. Ilona of Kylesku, Marlena and the award winning Mirage). Bjorn’s final design was an 85m (300ft) superyacht build by oceAnco in the Netherlands. He tragically passed in January of 2008. The emphasis of his beautiful interior is on simple, lightweight luxury. Bjorn brought a touch of superyacht style to the interior of the SIG45, which provides a remarkable sensation of space and quality.

Adam Voorhees

Talented designer, Adam Voorhees, was voted World Superyacht Young Designer of the year in 2010. With an innovative approach to both power and sailing yachts, he has worked with Le Breton Yachts on styling and interior design of the SIG60 and SIG80. His work optimises the utilisation of space, particularly in the key areas of the in the saloon and cockpit. His style focus was on keeping the design clean, contemporary and functional.

Bruno Peyron

Legendary sailor Bruno Peyron has held the round the world record three times, most recently on his mega-cat Orange 2. He has also held the transatlantic and 24hr speed records on several occasions. As the technical consultant for the SIG45, he applied his extensive multihull racing experience to optimising the rig and deck layout. The SIG45’s protective pilothouses and coamings, high bridgedeck clearance and its intuitive sail handling systems all owe a debt to the lessons learned on Bruno’s giant ocean racing catamarans.
