Hulls and Foils

The hulls are taken straight from the latest generation of VPLP ocean racing multihulls. The elegant hourglass section bows are designed to simultaneously reduce drag and increase stability and flotation when the hull is submerged below the stationary water line - the usual state of the lee hull.  They have been well proven on the Groupama 2, the fastest boat in the 2005 ORMA60 championship.

The foils are canted inwards - this provides the dual benefits of limiting the incursion of daggerboard cases into the accommodation and generating a small amount of upward lift (which also helps to reduce pitching), The daggerboards are asymmetrical to optimise lift generation.

Construction

The hulls will be built entirely in pre-preg carbon on a foam core. Similarly, mast, boom, beams and foils will be made of carbon, leading to a very light, very strong and extremely fast boat.
